Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, pharmacology, surgical and medical procedures to accurately assign medical codes for billing. Must have knowledge of medical abbreviations, their meanings, interpretation, and basic computer functionality skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, and the internet to research coding information. Provides training, feedback and quality control to medical staff and documents patient records per DoD, Air Force, Medicare and Medicaid Services Guidelines. Must be accredited from a nationally recognized accrediting body such as American Health Information Medical Assoc. or American Academy of Professional Coders.
